Have you ever been to a pub/event where there is a giant TV screen hooked up to a computer and a phone line, so that people can send an SMS and have it appear on the screen for everyone to read?
(I'm not sure what the point of this setup is, other than to make the local telecommunications companies more money...)
Anyway, the point I am lumbering towards is that you could probably guess which band was playing when the messages sent to the screen included the likes of "<#include geekrock.h>" and "Your star burns! I demand frozen treats."
That's right - Jo and I went to see They Might Be Giants last night.
I don't think I've ever been so nervous before a concert - when you're seeing a band you care so much about, what if they suck live?
Of course, I had nothing to worry about - they were fantastic, and played a stack of great songs - I Palindrome I, Dr. Worm, Particle Man, Birdhouse in Your Soul, Istanbul (not Constantinople), Anna Ng, and (She's) An Angel.
I was also happily surprised by Twisting, which rocked, and a new one I hadn't heard before, Alphabet of Nations.
They even played the complete "Figertips" series from Apollo 18. Wow. Just, wow.
