02. Why Bother With Regular Expressions?

• We use regular expressions because they can be very powerful when you need to deal with large amounts of data.
• They give us the power to find and/or alter data under very specific and precisely controlled circumstances - assuming that we know what we are doing!
• Regular expressions are a balance between matching what we want and not matching what we don't want.
